CO₂ Concentration Sensor

“The BleBox co2Sensor” is a smart WiFi CO₂ sensor designed to measure carbon dioxide concentration in homes, offices, schools and other indoor environments.

Using the free wBox app, available for Android, iOS, Windows and macOS, you can monitor real-time readings from multiple sensors simultaneously.

Ventilation Performance Indicator

“The BleBox co2Sensor” is an excellent tool for assessing the performance of both natural ventilation and mechanical ventilation systems, including heat recovery.

Based on measured CO₂ levels, the device evaluates ventilation performance, while the wBox app provides a clear explanation of the current ventilation status together with the possible effects of elevated carbon dioxide levels.

This allows you to quickly verify whether fresh air is being supplied effectively and whether the room is receiving sufficient ventilation.

Guests? Office, School, Nursery?

Indoor CO₂ levels rise quickly as the number of occupants increases, meaning the amount of fresh air supplied should increase accordingly.

This is particularly important when natural ventilation is insufficient (for example, due to closed trickle vents) or when a mechanical ventilation system is operating at a reduced airflow rate designed for lower occupancy.

By monitoring carbon dioxide concentration, the BleBox co2Sensor quickly detects declining air quality and reduced ventilation performance, allowing you to respond immediately – for example by opening a window or increasing the ventilation rate.

This helps minimise stuffiness, drowsiness and reduced concentration.

Sleep Quality Improvement

While you sleep, you naturally exhale carbon dioxide, causing CO₂ levels to rise gradually throughout the night. This is particularly noticeable in bedrooms with limited ventilation, for example where doors remain closed or ventilation grilles are not available.

The BleBox co2Sensor continuously tracks both current and historical CO₂ levels, helping you determine whether your ventilation system provides enough fresh air throughout the night.

This makes it easier to improve sleep quality by ventilating the room before bedtime or optimising the operation of your ventilation or MVHR system – for example by selecting the appropriate operating mode, adjusting trickle vents or leaving a window slightly open overnight.

Notifications & Alerts

The co2Sensor can send instant push notifications directly to your smartphone, allowing you to react immediately.

Alerts can be triggered:

  • When a predefined CO₂ threshold (ppm) is exceeded.
  • When the ventilation performance level changes.
  • When ventilation performance remains at a selected level for a specified period of time.

Notification messages can also be fully customised.

Examples:

  • Time to air the bedroom.
  • Open a window or trickle vent – indoor air quality has deteriorated.
  • Increase the ventilation rate – CO₂ has exceeded 1000 ppm.
  • Warning! CO₂ concentration has exceeded 5000 ppm.
  • Indoor air quality is good.
  • Ventilation performance has remained insufficient for more than six hours.

 

CO₂ Measurment History & Charts

The wBox app stores up to 12 months of historical CO₂ concentration data, displayed as interactive charts for easy trend analysis.

Whether you’re reviewing sleep conditions or checking the effects of airing a room, historical data helps you understand how indoor air quality changes over time.

Advanced users can also export data in .csv or .xlsx (Excel) format for further analysis, reporting or long-term archiving.

Wireless Automation

The BleBox co2Sensor smart Wi-Fi sensor also enables you to create custom home automation scenarios.

Based on measured CO₂ concentration or ventilation performance, it can wirelessly control other BleBox devices to improve indoor air quality automatically.

Simply connect the device to any standard 5V USB-C power adapter (such as a phone charger) and it’s ready to use straight away.

With continuous wired power, there’s no need to replace batteries. The sensor is always ready for operation and continuously monitors CO₂ levels.

Compact and Backlit

The compact size of the BleBox co2Sensor and convenient USB-C power supply make it easy to place almost anywhere – on a bedside table, desk, shelf, beneath a countertop or underneath a wall-mounted cabinet.

A soft multi-colour backlight provides an instant visual indication of indoor air quality, changing colour from green to red-purple according to the current CO₂ concentration.

Directly, Locally or Remotely

BleBox WiFi controllers and sensors support three communication modes:

  • Direct – via the encrypted WiFi network created by the device itself.
  • Local – through your home WiFi network, without requiring Internet access.
  • Remote – from anywhere in the world using the free BleBox Cloud.

This approach provides:

  • Reliable local communication, even during Internet outages.
  • Full operation without Internet or cloud access.
  • Direct access to the device even if your Internet connection, router or WiFi access point fails.
