Bidirectional WiFi Energy Meter

The “BleBox energyMeter DIN” is an advanced, bidirectional electrical energy meter with Wi-Fi connectivity. It allows you to monitor electrical network parameters and accurately measure electricity consumption and generation (4-quadrant measurement).

With the free wBox app, available for smartphones (Android, iOS) and computers (Windows, macOS), you can read real-time data from multiple meters simultaneously.

1F and 3F Electrical Installations

The device allows you to monitor single-phase (1F) and three-phase (3F) electrical installations.

The WiFi meter comes with three 50A current transformers (CTs), which provide precise, non-contact measurement.

These current transformers are ideal for tracking electrical energy consumption and generation in single-family houses, flats, offices, shops, small businesses, small industrial and agricultural installations, as well as for monitoring specific electrical circuits.

Optimise Your Energy Usage!

The meter precisely measures active energy consumption, allowing you to easily identify the most energy-intensive devices in your home. This allows for informed energy management and real cost reductions – especially when using dynamic electricity tariffs.

It is ideal for tracking energy consumption by devices such as:

  • EV chargers,
  • heat pumps (for heating a home, pool, or hot tub),
  • sauna heaters,
  • air conditioners.

The device also measures reactive energy consumption, making it a practical tool for analysing and supporting the reactive energy compensation process, especially for business customers.

Cost Tracking and Billing*

With this device, you can easily manage the tracking and billing* electrical energy costs across a wide range of commercial applications, particularly in rental environments, such as:

  • flats and holiday cottages,
  • campsites, caravan parks and pitches,
  • hotel rooms,
  • office premises and workspaces,
  • garages and storage units,
  • saunas, hot tubs and other individually rented leisure facilities,
  • food outlets and food trucks at large events,
  • charging points for electrical devices or vehicles (e.g. private EV charging points).

*in accordance with applicable regulations on cost recharging

Energy Generation and Balance

The bidirectional WiFi energy meter “BleBox energyMeter DIN” allows you to measure both imported (consumed) and exported (generated) electrical energy.

This makes it ideal for installations equipped with energy generation sources such as:

  • solar panels
  • wind turbines

The ability to measure energy fed into the grid enables automatic calculation of the energy balance, making it easy to determine whether electricity generation (export) exceeds consumption (import) over a given period.

Electrical Network Parameters

The “BleBox energyMeter DIN” not only measures imported and exported energy, but also monitors a wide range of electrical network parameters:

  • active, reactive and apparent power – both total and per phase,
  • voltage for each phase,
  • current for each phase,
  • frequency for each phase.

This allows the device to monitor the correct operation of electrical equipment, such as booster pumps, submersible pumps or drainage pumps. Among other things, it enables:

  • for three-phase pumps: protect the motor by detecting a phase loss and switching it off,
  • identify mechanical faults (e.g. a damaged impeller) or a blocked filter based on an increase in motor current or power.

Graphs and Measurement History

In the wBox app, you can view historical measurement data. Archived data is available for up to 12 months and is presented on an interactive graph, making it easier to analyse changes over time.

Within a selected time range, the meter can display:

  • active energy consumed (total across all phases or for a selected phase),
  • active energy generate (total across all phases or for a selected phase),
  • energy balance (e.g. whether generation exceeded consumption),
  • voltage on individual phases.

For advanced users, data can be exported to .csv or .xlsx (Excel) files, allowing further processing or long-term storage.

Notifications and Alerts

The bidirectional WiFi meter enables “push” notifications to be sent directly to your smartphone.

Alerts can be triggered:

  • when a set voltage threshold is exceeded on a specific phase,
  • when a set active power threshold is exceeded for a single phase or for all phases combined.

Additionally, you can customise the content of notifications, allowing messages to be tailored to your needs and selected electrical parameters.

Example notifications:

  • “Grid voltage has exceeded 253V”,
  • “Voltage on phase L1 has dropped below 200V – please check that the electrical system is operating correctly”,
  • “Energy consumption exceeds current generation”,
  • “Device power has exceeded 2000W – check correct operation”.

Wireless Automation

The “BleBox energyMeter DINWiFi smart sensor also enables the creation of home automation scenarios.

As with notifications, based on measured voltage or active power (import/export), it is possible to wirelessly control other BleBox devices, such as ON/OFF controllers (e.g. “switchBox” / “switchBox DIN” / “switchBoxT PRO”)

This allows you to:

  • maximise the use of generated energy,
  • reduce electrical energy costs through smart control of electrical loads,
  • avoid overloading the electrical installation,
  • prevent inverter shutdown when grid voltage exceeds the set threshold,
  • protect three-phase loads in the event of a phase loss.

Example applications:

  • “No voltage on phase L1 – switch off the three-phase booster/submersible pump”,
  • “When voltage exceeds 253V, switch on the DHW heater; when it drops below 251V, switch it off”,
  • “If power exceeds 20kW, switch off high-power loads”,
  • “If energy generation exceeds 8kW, switch on the EV charger”.

Phase Presence Indication

The “energyMeter DIN” WiFi meter is equipped with a coloured LED indicator (four LEDs) that provides information about:

  • the presence of each of the three phases (L1, L2, L3),
  • energy generation or consumption on each phase (L1, L2, L3),
  • the device operating status.

The device can be powered from any phase, so if any phase is lost, the corresponding LED will flash to indicate this condition.

DIN Rail Installation

BleBox devices with the “DIN” suffix are designed for DIN rail mounting in a plastic electrical distribution board.

In the case of an electrical energy meter, DIN rail mounting allows for quick and convenient connection of current transformers, enabling monitoring of the entire electrical installation (consumption, generation and energy balance) or a selected circuit. Installation is quick and requires no complex modifications.

Directly, Locally or Remotely

The BleBox WiFi meter offers three communication modes:

  • Direct mode -via a WiFi network broadcast by the device itself,
  • Local mode -via your home WiFi network, even without internet access,
  • Remote mode -from anywhere in the world, using the free BleBox cloud (servers located in the – European Union, the United States of America and Canada).

Thanks to its dual WiFi capability, the device can broadcast its own encrypted network while remaining connected to your home WiFi. This ensures reliable communication even in the event of a router or WiFi access point failure, or an internet outage.

Many Users!

Thanks to the free BleBox cloud and the free wBox app, you can manage access to your sensor from anywhere in the world and easily share it with other users.

BleBox cloud servers are located in the European Union, the United States of America and Canada, ensuring high reliability and enhanced privacy.
